A quick way to obtain Fare calculation without a PNR
This functionality is mostly used in cases when the agent needs to receive a specific Fare calculation which is not returned by the system after >FQ< or >FQBB< based on PNR or if PNR cannot be used, e.g. PNR is partly flown and the agent needs to find correct RBD (booking class) for return travel or if upgrade to higher Fare has to be calculated for the whole journey including flown sectors. As the entry with all modifiers is quite complicated, FQP Assistant installed in agents’ Smartpoint can significantly simplify this functionality and make it easier to all agents.
FQP Assistant in Smartpoint
After the installation, the FQP entry is stored in Quick commands and you can use the entry
#FQP< to start FQP Assistant.
Important note – the Fare calculation returned by the system is for information only. FQP function cannot read category 4 – Flight information of the appropriate Fare Rule because flight number cannot be entered.
The detailed description of FQP function can be found in the system in help section: >H/FQP<
Origin/Destination = city pair (three letter codes) - mandatory
Carrier = two letter code of the carrier – mandatory, if no carrier entered – IATA Fares applicable to all carriers are returned
Class = RBD / booking code – optional
Date = date of travel on specific segment – optional; if not used on the first segment, the system considers today’s date, if the sector was travelled in the past (1 year in the past), the year must be entered (23JAN13)
Stopover = optional; blank = stopover,
X = no stopover
Break = Fare Break Point - optional
blank = not specified
MB = Fare Break Point required at the end of this sector
NB = Fare Break Point prohibited at the end of this sector
Fare Basis = Fare basis code – optional
blank = not specified
SPCLS = only special fare required
NORMS = only normal fares required
Point of Sale/TKT = optional; necessary to be specified when it is different from the location of your terminal
PTC - Discount code = optional; system default = adult passenger
Validating Carrier = optional; if not specified, validating carrier will be selected by the system automatically
Ticketing Date = optional; if not specified, it means today; ticketing date can be 1 year in the past (the year must be entered, e.g. 13JAN13)
Account Code = optional; used in case of private fares loaded with account code
Private Fares Only = optional; only private fares to be returned
Published Fares Only = optional; only published fares to be returned
Following keyboard shortcuts can be used beside the mouse.
AtlI cursor is placed in the first line - Origin field
Alt-O cursor is placed in the Fare options line – Point of Sale/TKT field
Alt-Q cursor is placed at the beginning of FQP command line
Alt-C copy Carrier only
Alt-L copy Class only
Alt-D copy Date only
Alt-F copy Fare basis only
Alt-A Copy All button (Carrier + Class + Date + FB)
Alt-G Get FQP button
Alt-S Send FQP button
Alt-R Clear button
Alt-X Exit button ESC Exit button
Examples:
It is possible to copy Carrier, Class, Date and Fare basis using “Copy All” button. Use tabulator for moving among the fields.
FQP in the format required by the system
When “Send FQP” button is used, FQP entry is copied and can be pasted to Smartpoint using (>CTRL+V<). To Focalpoint the entry is pasted automatically in case when Smartpoint is closed.
Use >FQP*4< to display the specific Fare calculation from line 4.
When “Get FQP” button is used, FQP response is displayed in separate window.
Click on Fare basis to display the specific Fare calculation from line 8 or line 10. Separate window is again retrieved. You can have several windows opened at the same time and compare the Fare calculation.
All the windows opened by using Get FQP button are accessible from the taskbar.
Another example – no booking class or Fare basis specified:
It is useful to enter SPCLS or NORMS in Fare basis field in case when no booking codes or specific Fare basis codes are used. It can help you to obtain more Fares.
When SPCLS is entered in the Fare basis fields, 10 different Fares are returned by the system, which is maximum.
When booking codes (RBDs) are entered, only the corresponding Fare is returned.
The agent can print this Fare calculation or copy it to some document.
When specific Fare basis instead of SPCLS is used – only one corresponding Fare is returned.
*NEED RULE VALIDATION
When the Fare basis is used in FQP entry, it means that the system is forced to return required Fare even if the conditions of the appropriate Fare Rule are not sometimes met, Warning message
*NEED RULE VALIDATION is displayed under the Fare calculation to point out that the Rule conditions must be checked.
Private Fare with account code:
Fare calculation without breaking the fare at ATL and with mandatory break point at LAX.
